My goal for this week is to complete a 20 minute workout 3-4 times this week. I currently weigh x pounds, and I want to lose about 30-40 pounds over the course of a year. Unfortunately, right now both my knee and ankle are injured, so it makes it hard to workout. At first I was going on the treadmill and doing pretty well with walking for 20-30 minutes, but it ended up making my already injured ankle hurt really bad, so I had to stop. I then started to follow along with some dance/workout videos, but those were making my already injured knee hurt. With that being said, the goal for this week is to follow a knee friendly workout routine that focuses on strengthening my legs.
My hope is that strengthening the muscle around my knee will help in the long run, and allow me to exercise more freely in the future.
Monday, September 2nd, 2024-
Okay, so today I did a knee friendly workout that I found for 15 minutes. I wanted to complete a 20 minute workout, but the next exercise was one that I knew would be hard on my knee, so I decided to opt out. I definitely, still consider today a success and will mark it off as completing my workout.
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024-
I started a different knee friendly workout video today, and so far it is intense! I am three minutes in and out of breath. I am taking a break and drinking water in between typing this. This video is easy on the knee so far, but it feels intense overall. My heart was racing after only three minutes. This workout goes a lot faster than the previous one. I think I will probably finish this 20 minute workout in increments.
Okay, I am now 5 minutes in, and I think I need to change it to an easier workout video. Hopefully I find the right video by the end of the week!
I found a new video! It was a pretty good fit for me. It was an all-standing knee friendly workout. I completed it for 20 minutes, so I worked out for 25 minutes today, including the 5 minute workout from before. I decided to workout for a total of 25 minutes to make up for my 15 minute workout yesterday.
Side note: I mute the workout YouTube video, and I play a motivational video in the background.
Wednesday, September 4th, 2024-
I took a break from working out today! Rest Day. š
I did go on the scale finally. I weigh 180.9 lbs. My goal is to get down to around 140-150.
Thursday, September 5th, 2024-
I finished my 20 minute knee friendly standing workout today! I watched the same YouTube video as Tuesday. I’m happy that I found a video that seems like a better fit than the others.
Friday, September 6th, 2024
Happy Friday! š Yesterday I bought two 3lb dumbbells. Today I did a 5 minute dumbbell workout and then I did a couple of dance walking workout videos. I think all together I probably got 20 minutes or close to 20 minutes of walking in.
Since my goal was to workout 3-4x this week, and I worked out four days so far, I think I will end this blog on Friday (Today). I probably won’t workout tomorrow since it’s Saturday. My days are typically full on Saturday, and I rest on Sundays.
Overall, I am proud of myself for consistently working out this week. Unfortunately, my knee is starting to hurt again, so I think I am going to figure out a way to customize my own workout possibly, or I will continue finding videos and workout to those and just avoid the exercises that I think will hurt my knee.
