This is my second workout challenge this month! My goal is to workout for 20 minutes, 3-4x a week, for a month. Last week, I completed the workout challenge with an A+. My goal was to workout 3-4x last week, and I was able to workout 4 times last week. I’m hoping this week is successful as well.
To recap: My goal is to lose 30-40 pounds over the course of a year. I currently weigh X lbs.
Monday, September 9th, 2024-
Unfortunately, I woke up with a headache this morning, which eventually escalated to a migraine. It’s currently 2:46 p.m., and I have only been feeling better now for about an hour. I am not sure if I will be able to workout today, but I am going to try.
Okay, it’s now 4:38 p.m., and I just finished doing a 10 minute dumbbell workout. My dumbbells weigh 3lbs each. The workout was a combination of using one or both dumbbells. Off to do a ten minute dancing workout. I will let you know how it goes. By the way, I just follow YouTube workout videos.
I did it! I completed the 10 minute dance workout. It went well. I actually would have liked it to be a little harder, not on the knees, but cardio wise. Although there was some stretching in it, and it made me realize that I do need to stretch more too!
I officially worked out for 20 minutes today! 😀 I’m pretty proud considering I had a really bad migraine for a large portion of the day. Cheers to persistence! And cheers to my migraine feeling better!
Tuesday, September 10th, 2024-
Another migraine today! I really thought I wasn’t going to workout today, but here I am! I did my hardest dumbbell workout yet! 15 minutes of a dumbbell workout. I only have 5 more minutes of working out to go. I think I am going to do another dance workout. Anyway, I feel like I am already getting stronger in my arms. When I first started the workout my arms were already a bit sore when I was doing the exercises, so to me that is a sign that I am really working out my arms.
WOW!!! I thought doing five minutes of the dance workout I picked was going to be easy, but it was FAST. As in it required high energy and the exercises were QUICK, and I don’t mean it felt quick, haha. I got so out of breath. I even had to modify some of the moves because one was super jumpy and not knee friendly.
Looks like I really pushed myself today! The last five minutes was only hard because I was too lazy to find an easier one, ironically enough.
Wednesday, September 11th, 2024- Rest Day!
Okay, so I went on the scale, and I actually weigh more than last week. I weigh 183.4 lbs. Although I do wish the scale said I weighed the same or lower than last week, I am not going to get discouraged. My plan was to workout this month consistently 3-4x a week, and I am sticking to it! I think consistency is so important, and of course not giving up!
Thursday, September 12th, 2024-
I worked out for 20 minutes today! I found a knee friendly workout that was 15 minutes long, and I liked it, so I rewinded it to the the extra five minutes of working out. This workout was a lot more knee friendly than the previous ones I’ve done. The only thing I didn’t like is that is had multiple ads throughout the workout.
This is only semi-related, but I just wanted to let it out there. So as you know, my goal for this month is to workout 3-4x a week. Well I have another goal which is to only drink soda twice a week. I normally drink soda every day, so it has been harder than I thought. One bummer is that earlier this week (as you know) I got two migraines back to back. I felt like I “had” to drink soda on those days to compensate. Well yesterday I don’t think I drank any soda, but today, I did.
I just feel like this week has been rough and I decided to just drink the Coke. Another reason I decided to drink soda today is because I don’t want to overcompensate by eating more food. Sometimes I feel like if I can’t have what I want “treat” wise than I might eat more than I usually would. I think this was good because I don’t want to have a negative view on food or drinks that can be seen as “treats”.
Anyway, I still want to strike a balance and I think if I can drink about two sodas a week by the end of the month, than that’s a win for me. I think next week will be much better, especially because my migraine medication prescription got updated and I am trying to prioritize getting enough sleep.

Friday, September 13th, 2024-
Okay, so today I did a 15 minute dance workout. It was definitely not knee friendly. By the way, if you wonder why I am always switching videos, I think it’s because I like variety, but also because I fee like dance workouts fit well with Friday. It was an easier workout, but I think that’s because there were a lot of moves I had to change because either I couldn’t do them due to comfort/space or because they were not knee friendly. I will probably not follow this dance video in the future.
Anyway, after I did the 15 minute dance video, I did a five minute dumbbell workout. I am glad I did it. It’s funny because I was trying to find a 20 minute dance workout so that I didn’t have to do dumbbells today, but I’m happy I didn’t find a 20 minute one that I was interested in because I am so glad I did the five minute dumbbell workout. I actually really like doing the dumbbell workouts because they make me feel strong and they are easy on the knees since I pick ones without squatting or getting on the floor.
